TJ Tambellini

words Zarah Cheng
All images are from TJ's portfolio.

TJ Tambellini is an LA-based photographer who captures the cinematic essence of California through his images of poolside inflatables, palm fronds, and monochromatic edifices of kitschy 1960’s Los Angeles. Tambellini evokes hazy summer days with strikingly clean images, his frames often zoomed in so that only two or three colours are discernible.  The result is a series of photographs that are at once transparent in their representation of an object, but also entirely enigmatic by capturing only a selective section of that object.  But Art History analyzing habits aside, one thing’s for sure: TJ Tambellini’s images make us want to strip down to our underwear and spend the afternoon floating around aimlessly in a pool with bottomless mimosas in our hand.
